Where'd the turkey go?

Here in Japan, Thanksgiving isn't really given much attention. It makes sense, in the same way that the Japanese not celebrating the 4th of July makes sense; It's just way more pertinent for Americans. Still, it makes me a little bit sad. The closest I got to a turkey dinner here was this email from Cosi in my inbox...

日本では、サンクスギビングデーはよく注目されてない。日本人が六月四日も特に祝わないことのように、論理的だと思うけど。アメリカ人の方が、歴史的に関係しているホリデいなんだから。それにしても、ちょっと悲しくならずにはいられないよね。このCosiからのメールより、七面鳥を食べることに近いのがなかったけど。

For the record, I love this sandwich with an unholy passion.

But yeah. While Halloween's been getting steadily more press and marketing over time, people and advertising shifts gears straight to Christmas afterwards. And Christmas in Japan means cake, and KFC. If you want a rundown of THAT tradition, this explanation is pretty good.

とにかく。ハロウィーンなら最近どんどん流行っていくど、それが終わった次第、店のキャンペインなどがクリスマスばっかり考えているよ。日本では、クリスマスの時がケーキとKFCの時。それはどうしてかと言うと、ここの説明が中々いけると思う。
