Twinkle Twinkle...

Did you know that the city I live in, Anan, is where LED lights were first created? It's true.  For someone like me who has a penchant for technological stuff, that little tidbit is pretty cool.

So, last night as I was coming home on the train from Tokushima city, looking out the window, I caught sight of Anan's "Kirakira Dome", all lit up. I thought it would be cool to go take a few pictures of it.

But, when I got the castle park, where the Kirakira Dome is, I realized it wasn't just the dome that was lit up.

私の住んでいる「阿南」っていう市は、LEDライトが初めて作られてきた場所だと、知ってましたか？本当だ！テクノロジーの気に入っている私には、その豆知識がなかなか面白い。

だから、夕べ 、徳島市からの汽車に乗ってきながら、窓を見だして、阿南での「キラキラドーム」の上が光っていると見かけて、「写真撮りたい」って思ったんだ。

でも、キラキラドームがある、お城の広場に着くと、光っているのがドームだけではなかったを知ることが出来た。

これは、お城の広場の入口。すごいでしょう？

The lights along the street are LED too, so they were cycling colors.

道の灯りもLEDだから、 色が替わっていた。

Even the lights embedded in the pavement inside were continually cycling through colors.

舗装に入れてある灯りも、色が回って続けていた。

But, I saw the real deal when I looked to my left.

でもね、本番は、左に曲がって、見えてきました。

These are the stairs that lead up to the Kirakira Dome.

...I know, right?! Isn't it awesome!? I was super-impressed!

これは、上のキラキラドームへの階段。

ね！？ねぇー？！すごくきれいでしょう？私も、ビックリィー！

Even the lights hanging on the trees were changing color.

木の枝に掛けているライトも、色が替わっていた。

Going up these stairs and passing under those arches felt a bit like entering another world.

 この階段に登って、灯りの門を通り超えると、別の世界に入るような感じだった。

Of course, I glanced back down behind me. Is that hesitation I sense?

もちろん、一瞬、振り返った。迷ったのかな？

And then, when I made it to the top, I saw the finale.

そして、上まで着いたら、本番の本番だった。

This is the Kirakira Dome. I know I keep saying the same thing, but it was truly awesome and beautiful. And I though that those lights staying that way, unchanged, was all of it, but I soon realized otherwise...

これが、キラキラドームです。もう何度も同じこと言ったけど、すごくて美しかった。そのまま、替わらず光っていると思っていたのに、すぐにそうではないと気付いた。。。

The wind was really strong so you can't hear it clearly, but if you listen close, you can hear the music that was playing during this display.

風が強くて、よく聞こえないけど、耳を澄ませば、音楽が聞こえると思う。

Standing there in the dark and the wind, alone, watching this, was pretty magical. I'm so glad I decided to go take pictures even though the weather wasn't so agreeable.

夜も風の中で立ってて、一人でこのシーンを見させてもらって、かなり幻想的だったよね。天気がちょっといやだったのに、写真を撮りに行ってよかったよね。
