Well, uh. Actually Philly is known for a lot of foods, but the one I want to talk about are soft pretzels. While I was home in America over the winter break, I ate a crapload of soft pretzels!
It's tough to get a real idea of the size of a soft pretzel from a static photograph, so I took a video on my iPhone. Have a look-see.

As you can see, it's pretty large. I believe the kind of pretzels that most Japanese people have been exposed to are of the small, bite-sized, crunchy type. Soft pretzels are nothing like those. They're big, sprinkled with salt, and soft like bread. And even though the flavor of a soft pretzel is the same pretty much wherever you go, there are different shapes. 見る通り、かなり大きいやつでしょう？ 多分、日本人が知っている「プレッツェル」は、ちっちゃくて、 カリっとしている一口のおやつだと思いますが、ソフトプレッツェルは、桁が２桁違います。でっかくて、塩をかけて、柔らかいパンみたいな食べ物なんだ。どこでものソフトプレッツェルの味が殆ど一緒だけど、形は色々あります。ビデオで映しているのがその一つ。「Super Pretzel」というブランド名で売っているから、よく「スーパープレッツェル」と呼ばれている一種類です。またのは。。。

This shape. This is the distinctive "Philadelphia soft pretzel" shape. Super Pretzels are often thought of as being from New York, but the oblong shaped ones are associated with Philly. Philly is near where I grew up, so I have a soft spot for this type of soft pretzel (har har?)

この形です。これは、独特な「フィラデルフィアソフトプレッツェル」の形！スーパープレッツェルなら、ニューヨークの物だと思われているけど、小判方のこのプレッツェルはフィリーと連想させているんです。出身の近くのフィリーだから、私にとって特に懐かしいおやつですよ。（ここの英語の訳語は、ちょっと変わっているが、訳しにくいジョークだから、このままで書いておきました。）
